Hamas denies involvement in alleged Hizbullah plot

“Egyptian security is part of Palestine’s security,” Barhoum said, adding that Hamas “does not have any information about the group that was seized by Egyptian security but through media outlets.”

Egypt is holding some 49 people in detention on suspicion of working for the Lebanese resistance movement Hizbullah, the country’s attorney general has confirmed.

Hamas: Egypt did not recommend Abbas to head transitional government

Hamas spokesperson Fawzi Barhoum denied earlier reports that Egypt had recommended Abbas, whose term expired in January, to stay on after the completion of reconciliation talks between Hamas and Abbas’ Fatah movement.

“We did not receive any Egyptian proposals that Abbas will head the new government, but there are Egyptian thoughts and proposals that Fatah and Hamas may agree on, especially since the program of the new government is not yet fixed.”

Hamas spokesperson spent first days of Gaza war protected in Fatah home

On the second day of the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum fled and hid in the home of a friend, who was affiliated with Fatah and regularly “coordinated with the Ramallah government,” he revealed to journalist Thursday.
