Police: Lieberman probe likely to result in corruption charges

The corruption investigation into Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman is likely to produce charges of money laundering, fraud and breach of trust, police sources said Saturday, adding that questioning of the Yisrael Beiteinu leader was nearing an end.

Unless additional testimony is needed, the police will submit their recommendations on filing an indictment in the coming weeks, the sources said.

Did the bedouin teenage girl really carry out an attack?

Law-enforcement officials found the notebook, in which Basma expressed sympathy for the plight of Gazans and a willingness to sacrifice herself for their cause.

“We are very embarrassed by all that has happened. If this happened, we need to check with police and see who was behind this, who created this scandal… If I knew who was responsible, I would take him straight to the police station.”

But he said the family was not convinced that things occurred the way police described. They asked to see evidence that the girl had in fact carried a gun and fired it.

If someone aided Basma or was behind the incident, they were “not from the family,” Ouda Nabari insisted.

The residents of Hura were amazed by the incident. Al-Nabari’s relatives described a pleasant girl, an outstanding student, who would not have hurt anyone.

“The entire family is surprised,” one of the relatives, Uda al-Nabari, told Ynet. “She may have gone to file a complaint with the police, and they accidentally thought she wanted to carry out an attack.

“The police must check this and prove that it was indeed a nationalistically-motivated incident. Basma was a normal girl. Everyone was amazed when they heard about this.”

Violent settlers freed over ‘improper’ police conduct

The Kfar Sava Magistrates Court freed on Friday five settlers a day after they had been arrested by police who had masqueraded as Palestinians.

The detainees, who reside in an illegal West Bank outpost, were arrested on Thursday after attacking the disguised police and vandalizing their car.
